Free Agency will be divided into 2 parts:
- In Season
- Off Season
Off Season:
Off Season Free Agency is split into 3 separate parts.
1. Restricted Free Agency
- RFA (Restricted Free Agency) will be determined by the real life contract.
- If the real life team offers them a contract you may choose to accept or deny the contract.
- If you choose to deny the contract the player will head to free agency with no penalty to the losing team.
- At the end of each season there will be a thread created for each team and all teams must continue to check this thread to work those players.
- Team options will be treated the same way as an RFA contract.
All contracts under these rules must be accepted by no later than 2 weeks from the start of of the season. Specific dates will be stated at the start of the off-season when real-life schedules are released.
2. Undrafted Free Agency
This only applies to rookies who went undrafted in our 4 round rookie draft (can be drafted or undrafted in real life).
- Minimum bids start at $0.1 Mil and the minimum increment is $0.1 Mil.
- Contracts given are a max of 4 years.
- Teams can give players 3 year contracts with a built in 4th year RFA option.
- Players signed through UDFA are ELIGIBLE for Practice Squad.
- Bids must stand for 24 hours in order to win the player being bid on.
3. Unrestricted Free Agency
All Players in the player pool on Fantrax are eligible for UFA and rules for bidding go as follows:
- Bids cannot go Under $0.5 Mil per season.
- Maximum of 4 years can be given on a contract.
- In order to beat another team's bid, you must outbid their contract's total value by atleast $0.5 Mil.
Ex: Team 1 bids: 4 years @ 5 mil per year (20 Mil Overall Contract Value)
Team 2 must bid in order to outbid: 2 years @ 10.25 mil per year (20.5 Overall Contract Value)
Team 2's bid of 20.5 OCV > 20 OCV of Team 1
- Players will be awarded to a team after their valid bid is not outbid for 24 hours.
- If your bid is found to be incorrect it will be invalid and the previous bid will remain in the lead.
- You can bid on as many players as you want as long as you have the sufficient cap space and roster space.
- Ascending/Descending by 2x/0.5x the $$ per year in contracts is valid, as long as the difference of any 2 years in the deal does not exceed $5mil.
~i.e. 4 yrs 90 mil (20/25/25/20) IS VALID
~i.e. 4 yrs 75 mil (30/15/15/15) IS NOT VALID, since $30 and $15 are farther than $5 mil apart.
In Season:
During the season, bidding will follow the same rules as UFA, except for a few minor changes:
- Only 1 Year deals can be given during the NFL Season.
- to beat a previous bid, you only have to up the total money by at least $0.2 mil.
- Still must stand 24 hours to win the player.
If a player thread is open prior to the season starting, then GMs may still continue to offer multi-year deals if desired.
